The newly established Ibadan Civic Centre recently hosted a dedication and prayer session to mark part of its opening activities. At a brief but very impressive gathering, clerics prayed for the centre and dedicated it to the glory of God.
Extensive prayers were said for the success of the establishment while supplications were also made for the founder, for long life, joy and fulfillment for the entire centre's management and staff. In His remarks, the Chief Imam, Anwar-Islam movement of Nigeria, Ibadan Mission, Alj. A.F Shiyanbola who presided over the prayer session paid homage to the founder of the establishment and commended his foresight, philanthropy and sense of service, he said founding the centre portrayed Chief Kola Daisi as someone who wanted to leave a monument for coming generations rather than being concerned with immediate temporal matters.
Guests at the event were later taken on a prayer tour of the facility at the centre, in attendance were: Alhaji Lekan Ajani, Chief Aiku (SAN), Mr Joe Eyitayo, Chief O.B Daisi, High Chief Owolabi Olakunle, High Chief Omowale Kuye, Alhaji Diti Oladapo, Chief Biodun Salami, others were Chief Mrs. Akinola, Alhaja S. Adekola and Dr.& Mrs. Roberts.
Meanwhile, the official unveiling of the centre’s logo and facility tour has been scheduled to hold Tuesday, July 28 , 2009 at the centre.
All is now set for the official logo unveiling and facility tour of the first world-class civic centre within Ibadan main city, Ibadan Civic Centre, a monument built by business mogul, philanthropist and great Ibadan son, Chief Daisi. The centre is located in Agodi/ Gate, a distance of less than 200 metres from the Government House, Agodi.
The aim of putting up the centre, according to the Ibadan Civic Centre’s General Manager, Yemi Omosanya includes creation of a world class recreation/events centre to service the residents of the city, South West and Nigeria in general. The centre, the GM disclosed further, would ultimately provide revenue to fund the KDF foundation, a Foundation which will in turn provide for the less privileged in priority areas such as health and education”.
The services of the centre are directed largely to corporate clients in such areas as seminars, conferences, and product launches, symposia, theatre acts and also high profile weddings, birthday parties, concerts and so on.
Main features of the centre include the Agbeke Hall which is on the ground floor and consists of a 2,000- seater venue that is exquisitely decorated for high class events. It comes with banquet chairs and tables with a stage. Also included is a backstage changing room and adequate toilets for males and females. There is also a 3- units-400-seater conference rooms on the upper floor with each of them having their own conveniences for males and females. These are ideal for smaller crowd functions like engagement parties and others.
There is a car park space for 500 cars inside the premises with armed and private security round the clock. There is a 250KVA generating set and a 150KVA Generator for back up. A private transformer is also available. The centre is manned by well trained and courteous staff adept at the business at hand and concerned mainly with customer satisfaction. The architectural uniqueness of the edifice draws from its Roman style design, columns and chandeliers. Important dignitaries are expected at the Logo unveiling and facility tour
